MatterAgain.

New value from overlooked materials.

A practical identity for a platform that turns built experience, reclaimed material and careful experimentation into shared knowledge.

01 · Foundation

A second life,
made visible.

The name carries two ideas. Overlooked material becomes useful again, and the work becomes a matter of public knowledge.

The identity should hold both. It is materially grounded without becoming rustic, and intellectually serious without becoming institutional or cold. It begins with reclaimed pallet timber but leaves room for a wider programme of material innovation.

01

Resourceful

Show the intelligence in what already exists.

02

Precise

Use evidence, clear boundaries and exact language.

03

Open

Make knowledge useful, legible and shareable.

02 · Logo system

Built from
parts.

The reassembly mark pairs a solid form with its outlined second state. It can sit beside the wordmark or work alone as a compact signature.

A material idea,
reduced to four squares.

Two squares are whole; two are open. Whole and open sit on opposite corners, so the eye reads a cycle — taking something apart and putting it back together. That is the entire work of Matter Again, made into a signature.

Take apart

The outlined squares are the pallet broken into its parts — stringers and blocks, waiting to be used again.

Build anew

The solid squares are those parts assembled into something new — a home, a studio, a shared record of what is possible.

Hold both

Whole and open share the same square. Nothing is discarded; the material carries its first life into the next.

The mark always reads as one form in two states, never as two separate icons. Set it in Timber on Paper, or Paper on Timber, and leave both states intact.

Where the brand appears.

Environmental

Signage and built applications use the mark at scale — single-colour Timber where the material can speak for itself.

03 · Colour

Earth, growth
and record.

A quiet material palette. Paper and Charcoal carry most layouts. Regrowth and Timber add meaning, never decoration for its own sake.

05 · Image language

Show the material in context.

Prefer honest daylight, lived-in places, close material detail and the relationship between making and use. Pair wide context with one precise detail.

  • Natural colour and restrained contrast
  • People only where their presence adds meaning
  • No generic “green” imagery or artificial textures

06 · Voice

Curious.
Clear.
Grounded.

Write as a thoughtful practitioner sharing what has been learned, not as a campaign making claims beyond the evidence.

Say

“The buildings form a growing record of reclaimed pallet timber in use.”

Avoid

“We are revolutionising sustainable construction for everyone.”

Lead with the point. Use plain language and specific nouns.

Separate proof from ambition. State what is built, what is being studied and what remains open.

Invite participation carefully. Prefer “explore”, “contribute” and “learn with us” to inflated calls to action.

07 · In use

One system,
different scales.

Use the same proportions, type contrast and material palette across digital, print and environmental applications.
